The City of Burlington has received applications from Nelson Aggregates Co. to re-designate the lands described and shown on the sketch attached. The purpose of this application is to permit aggregate resource extraction on portions of the lands located to the west and south of the existing Nelson Aggregate Co. extraction operation. The application seeks approval for a Class ‘A’, below water licence under the Aggregate Resources Act with an annual extraction limit of 2 million tonnes.
As the application has been appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), Burlington Community Planning staff are providing a Staff Report for information purposes only. No recommendation to approve or refuse the application is being provided to Council at this time. This meeting will be held using a hybrid model, allowing members of Council, City staff and the public the option of participating remotely or in-person at Burlington City Hall, 426 Brant St.
