Classic Albums Live U2’s THE JOSHUA TREE Arts and Culture

08:00 PM| 440 Locust St.

BPAC favourite Classic Albums Live and its roster of A-list musicians from across the country will be performing U2’s The Joshua Tree exactly as you remember hearing it, note for note, cut for cut.

Founded in 2003 by Craig Martin, Classic Albums Live takes the greatest albums and recreates them live on stage – note for note, cut for cut, using the best musicians. “Think of it as a recital,” says Martin, “these albums are historic and stand the test of time.” Forgoing costumes and impersonations, Classic Albums Live has found success in concentrating solely on the music. “We don’t dress up or wear any sort of costume. We just stand there and play. All of our energy is put into the music. We want the performance to sound exactly like the album,” says Martin.

With 100+ shows a year across North America, Classic Albums Live has seen massive success in performing arts centres and theatres. Fans in Texas, Las Vegas, Florida, New York and central and east coast Canada have all continued to support the series and make it a sustaining, successful show. “We grew while others withdrew,” says Martin, commenting on the decline of concert ticket sales, “We created something that endures and connects. These albums are sacred to people. We deliver exactly what we promote – ‘note for note, cut for cut’ accuracy.”

It’s this type of accountability that works for the series.

emma whaleEMMA WHALE
No matter the genre, Emma knows how to make a song stand out. With her sweet-as-candy vocals up front, she’ll tell you sad stories with a tinge of hope. While her lyrics reflect her life, she’ll morph her sound to match her mood, resulting in a unique experience for every release.

Emma became a multi-instrumentalist at a young age, starting with singing, then picking up piano and guitar not long afterwards. After high school, she earned her Bachelor of Musical Arts degree from Western University, and her Music Industry Arts diploma from Fanshawe College. Emma currently works as an engineer and producer at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton.

jesse adamsJESSE ADAMS
Life can be bittersweet. Jesse’s music captures that elusive state somewhere between defeat and resolve, misery and joy. After experiencing disparate moments of bliss and devastation, Jesse reached back into her childhood diary of songs, yanked them from their resting place, and revisited each from a more mature perspective. Now 24, Jesse has released an EP called “Shades of Gold,” and most recently, her debut album “Gravity.” She is excited for more music to come.

Special Guest:

sarah sleanSARAH SLEAN
Sarah Slean is a 4-time JUNO, 2-time GEMINI nominated performer and a Canadian Screen Award-winning composer with 25 years of broad experience in music. Signed to Atlantic/Warner Records at the tender age of 19, this modern-day Renaissance woman has released 11 albums in over 10 countries worldwide. Her music borrows from pop, cabaret and orchestral, and her influences range from Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush to Bach. This year, Sarah will be composing the music for her musical stage adaptation of the award-winning film Maudie, as well as completing her Master’s Degree in Composition.
