Join us to honour Residential School Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and acknowledge the lasting impacts of the residential school system on Indigenous families and communities.
The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the gazebo located at the east end of Spencer Smith Park. Following opening remarks, participants will take part in a reflective Walk for Reconciliation and Peace along the Waterfront Trail, concluding at Beachway Park with a Tobacco Ceremony.
Participants are encouraged to wear orange shirts and moccasins, if they have them.
This event is free to attend and no registration is required.

September 30 is recognized across Canada as Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led grassroots movement inspired by the story of Residential School Survivor Phyllis Webstad. Residents are invited to join Indigenous leaders in Burlington, in conjunction with the Indigenous Advisory Circle to the Mayor, for an evening of reflection, learning, and reconciliation.
Together, let us walk in the spirit of remembrance, respect, healing, and reconciliation.
